Celebrations at Abbeyfield in Alfriston

The Leicestershire branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England recently announced the winners of its 2007 design awards. The Mary Holloway Garden Room Extension at Abbeyfield House in Quorn won a commended nomination in the category 'Building or group of buildings within an urban or rural area'. [Read more]

 
High Achievers at Horsted Keynes 

Pictured here are several of the dedicated and happy band of staff based at the Abbeyfield Mid Sussex Society’s Westall House at Horsted Keynes. These staff have recently achieved passes in registered managers’ awards, NVQ levels 2-3 in care, chef and domestics awards and attended an award ceremony at Westall House on 6th December with an appreciative audience of residents and members of the Westall House Committee. Clifton House, Isle of Wight Wins first Prize in Isle Of Wight Healthy Eating Alliance Awards 2007 

Abbeyfield UK’s Clifton House on the Isle of Wight took first prize in the awards celebrating best practice and policy in healthy eating in a variety of settings across the Isle of Wight. The winners were announced at a Celebration Event at the Royal London Yacht Club in Cowes on 30 November and Lois Rogers from Clifton House collected the award on behalf of Abbeyfield UK. Abbeyfield is saddened to announce the death of Susan Carr-Gomm  

The Abbeyfield Society is, wife of Abbeyfield’s founder, Richard Carr-Gomm. Susan died after a very short illness at the end of last month. Married in October, 1957,Richard describes Susan in his 2004 autobiography, ‘All Things Considered’ as follows: “Brown haired tall and attractive, Susan was a natural with all people and everyone felt at ease with her.
