Abbeyfield is planning a development for an extra care scheme consisting 18no 1 bed flats, 54no 2 bed 2 bath flats and 4no 3 bed 2 bath flats – a total of 76 flats with associated communal facilities and adequate parking. Residents will be provided with a range of support services delivered by a team of staff based within the scheme and other practioners visiting the residents.
The desire is to achieve a ‘state of the art’ scheme both in terms of the design and the facilities provided. A great emphasis is to be placed on the use of sustainable design and technology – promoting a reduction of running costs for the residents and minimising the impact of the construction of the building on the environment.
The design of the accommodation will be such that, should the care needs of the residents increase in the future, the properties could be adapted to ensure that the residents can remain within their own home.
The scheme will be designed to include assistive technology which will enhance and ensure quality of life for residents as their care needs alter, continuing to offer them choice around their support and care requirements. However the technology will be designed to be discreet and avoid the loss of a ‘homely feel’ to the building. More information coming soon
